Goal Seek: Checked Answers finds the value of one input cell that makes a formula cell reach a number you choose. Before it shows an answer, it recalculates your sheet with that answer in place and shows you the result.
How to use it
- Open it from Extensions > Goal Seek: Checked Answers > Open Goal Seek.
- Set: the cell with the formula you care about, like a monthly payment or a profit total.
- To: the number you want that cell to show.
- By changing: the input cell it may change, like a price or a rate. It must hold a number you typed in.
- Press Find the value, then Apply if you want to keep the answer.
The buttons next to the cell fields fill in whichever cell you have selected.
What the results mean
- Answer found and checked: the value shown makes your cell hit the target. The green line is the result your sheet calculated with that value in place.
- 2 answers found: more than one value hits the target, like a low and a high break-even price. Pick the one that fits your situation.
- No exact answer: no value hits the target. It shows the closest result, or the point where the result jumps past the target.
- These cells are not connected: the result doesn't change when the input changes. Check the formula.
- The result keeps changing: something feeding the result, like
RANDorNOW, changes on every recalculation, so no answer would be reliable.

Help and problems
Email sunterbb@gmail.com with what you set it to do and what it showed. A copy of the sheet with anything private removed helps most.
